melia
Nowhere near enough of a threat to be our marksman. I just dont understand what he is there for?The build up play is great but even the decent crosses/balls he is 2ft away from. Think if we can see JCH running in behind we may see a turn in results. Can't fault the performance again tonight. It will come - I think this season may end up well exceeding expectations.

HarryBosch
Re Rooney - You're right but, he's been signed to start and he'll bag 20+ if he stays there all season Edited September 9, 2013 by HarryBosch
HarryBosch
Disappointed with Philiskirk too. None of the strikers got on the end of anything His corner for the goal wasn't too shabby though

Oh Heck C-Beck
While a bit disappointed we didn't get on the end of some good deliveries credit to the Preston keeper Rudd he was very commanding in the air

sydneyblue
They never showed the replay but what happened with that free header for Rooney? Right of goal, unmarked and he looked like he tried to head it backwards? I was halfway off the sofa.
nzlatic
Wholeheartedly disagree. Likewise. I think the forward play was generally good but it'll take time for them all to gel. Rooney was a bit disappointing but he's the top scorer so worth persisting with.

JohnnyPimp
Philliskirk was constantly pulling their defence around and the fact he played the full 90 minutes suggests that the manager appreciated that.
no1laticsfan
I thought Rooney played :censored:. He's tall and built yet he was always beaten! He needs to up his game! He has the potential. Philliskirk played ok.
Wardie
How long did it take Latics last season to put thirteen goals away?
oafc-latics
Rooney caused them problems and could have had a couple of goals if he'd been more composed. I'll take a striker who does nothing but pops up in the box like he did for that header. ...but if he cocks it up like he did tonight then he can warm the bench. More often than not, he'd bury those. Ross2509
3 goals already this season, shut up you :censored:ing idiot. Every game we lose its always someone fault. Christ, so annoying! We have a low budget! We can't get the best strikers in the leagues but this guy is a good'en
super_blue
To be fair isn't that the 4th strike partner (JCH, Philly, Baxter and McDonald) he's played with this season and we're only 8 games in? It'll come just give the lad time!
Ritchierich
The problem all night was the final ball was simply not good enough and despite dominating possession we never really opened them up (and in fairness they are very, very strong at the back) Not sure the fault was with the front two exactly, more the lack of final pass/decent delivery

I thought Rudd dealt extremely well with some dangerous crosses and corners.
dec666
He didn't play well tonight or Saturday, I don't think we're utilising him in the right way. He's not exactly a giant, but he's a very strong player, get it in to his feet in and around the box and I'm sure hell cause problems. Snookmeister
I'd rather Rooney stayed on and Philly went off tonight. His name was barely mentioned for 90 mins. Didn't do anything wrong particularly, but just didn't think he was involved much. With the amount of balls flying into the box, I'd rather Rooney was in there, despite his fluffed header. deyres42
He looks like a penalty box player, totally reliant on service, which he'll struggle to get from our current wide boys.
petelatics
Final ball was consistently good - great crosses but they need attacking like Tarky did for the goal. We looked toothless. Looks like LJ has got everything else sorted. Preston had to play like the away side which is how they got their chances late on.

When it's not working and time is pressing, maybe Kusunga on and Tarky up front.
