HarryBosch
In my opinion, it's a pointless competition. There would be very little glory in ever winning it. Winning it doesn't get you entry into anything else unlike every other thing you can win in football. If we did ever get to the final Wembley would be half empty which would lead to it all feeling a bit tinpot. The early rounds sometimes cost the club money. On the other hand.... Some of you think we should embrace a competition we have a "realistic chance of winning". Some say it's the best chance they'll ever have of seeing us at Wembley. When we got to the area final the club made a couple of quid and it did create a bit of a buzz.
lancy lad
Keep it, as long as it remains sensibly priced. There is no harm in it and it can be a good chance to play fringe players. Also a very realistic chance of Wembley (remember the excitement it created 2 years ago?).

beag_teeets
Kill it with fire and then nuke it from space. Pointless, horrendous and an absolute complete waste of time. There are 2 cup competitions that we are automatically entered into we don't need a third, the line that "it gives us :censored: teams a chance of Wembley" doesn't wash with me, we have 3 chances of Wembley as it is, if we want to play there then we need to be better and do it in a proper cup or play-offs. The rule that so many players from your previous games have to play is an abomination, no competition should dictate which players get a game. All this competition does is create injuries, bookings and cold toes. Get rid.
deyres42
Proud of my record of having never attended a tie, will only be broken by a tasty Northern final and/or Wembley.

Frankly Mr Shankly
Scrap it. What a horrible competition. My opinion would be vastly different had we actually won it a couple of times, clearly.
Dave_Og
Get rid of the Premiership clubs from the League Cup - after all it is the Football League cup and they are not in the football league - then play a triophy just for the 72. Realistic chances of doing well, less risk of being insulted by United's third team.
HarryBosch
Who won it last season? No googling.

HarryBosch
Crewe? They beat Southend? Apparently. I had no idea. I didn't realise it had only been going since 1984 either.

Pine Villains
can't believe english football has three professional cup competitions and none of them is the watney cup.
nzlatic
Despite far too many years of demoralising results I still get excited whenever we kick off. So the more games we play, the better. It's not that much more action for the players to cope with. Add to that the fact that it's normally cheap to get in and the incentive of getting to Wembley without having to beat anyone from the leagues above and it's a "keep" from me. beag_teeets
Not fishing, I detest the competition for the reasons given. Plus the only way to qualify for it is to be in the :censored: leagues so each time a tie comes round it is a reminder that we aren't in the Championship. Same as the 1st & 2nd rounds of the FA Cup. Monty Burns
Dont really like it. I'd keep it but amend it, get rid of that rule about regular players who HAVE to play in it. I like how its cheap though and it got us on tv recently so I don't hate it like I used to.
petelatics
Keep it. The winner does well financially out of it and winning anything is good for the team and supporters.

I'd be more likely to go to a JPT game if a few kids or fringe players were on show. I still wouldn't like, but....
Forte_Baby
Keep it good chance of getting to Wembley if we are playing :censored: in the League a nice distraction, cheaper footie so those who say they cannot afford to go often have a good opportunity to attend. leeslover
I hate the minimum players rule as well, but without it it would be a real farce with fans paying out to see a team of their 16 year olds getting destroyed by someone else's full strength team. Not many would be back next year after that
3 Lions
Absolutely keep it. It is the only realistic chance right now that we have and even players at this level have of ever seeing Wembley. As for the game rule, there is nothing wrong with it. - "Clubs have to start six of the 11 players who played in the match immediately before or after the Trophy game or the six players with the most appearances for the club to date that season.". http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23848217 Kill it with fire and then nuke it from space. Get rid. We have 2 chances - Play offs & JPT trophy. At our level and our current ability, that is it. FA Cup & League Cup - Forget both, these are at best payday games where we might get a draw with a top side, or more likely we'll get a crappier side and go out at the first hurdle. We must never ever plan on seasons like last year or 89-90. The rule is 6 players from the previous league games, I agree no rules should dictate who should play, however just over 50% of the previous team is not a stretch. Get rid of the Premiership clubs from the League Cup - after all it is the Football League cup and they are not in the football league - then play a triophy just for the 72. Realistic chances of doing well, less risk of being insulted by United's third team. This actually is a good idea as some Prem teams have been looking for a way out of the League Cup for a while now. I think if the sponsors walkaway from the comp, the teams will follow. As for the carrot...."Wembley"....that is the carrot.
