slystallone
http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/article/20131030-loanmoves-1143752.aspx Hmmm. I hope "due dilegence" has been done. The timing isn't ideal as it does smack of a knee jerk. That said, we are short at the back with Lanzoni and Mills out, oh and Brown too. BristolOwl
I'm sure that LJ has been researching the loanees for a while - he isn't like some of the the clowns we've had in our recent history (over the past 20 years). We obviously need experience as well as quality, particularly in defence, where we have been unlucky with injuries amongst a rookie bunch. Hopefully, a Championship defender will fit the bill. I'm not sure what's happened to Lanzoni. We were told he'd be out for two weeks, after which he suddenly went to Italy for specialist analysis and we await still the prognosis as the five-week mark approaches. This is not the LJ style and the kind of thing (along with a deafening silence from the club web-site) that we've had to put up with until Johnson's arrival. Perhaps the manager and player are treading water until the short-term contract expires, and Lanzoni is looking for a club back in Italy. I cannot think of another explanation for the apparent lack of urgency and information to fans.
Gaz_Oafc
Pretty sure Larnell Cole was sat with Paul Scholes at the Swindon game. Potentially coming in? Believe he's a midfielder but Utd started playing him in defence to iron out his defensive weaknesses.
LaticsPete
Lanzoni is back from Italy - he was at the match on Saturday. Think you're over thinking a simple situation .

rudemedic
Lanzoni's injury might originally only been a two-week one but it was then re-evaluated and was deemed to be a bit more serious. The fact that he has had similar injuries in the past means it is somewhat of a chronic problem, and part of the "delay" is due to trying to sort out this chronicity. Factor in the language difficulties and it is considerably more complicated than first thought.
eyres_28
Striker and wideman please Johnson. Please not a wide player when we've got 2 of our own not getting game time. A striker with Charlie Mac out is a possibility and a defender

deyres42
You will find him at dinner time if you look round the chippys that are open And he'd still do a better job than Montano and Sidney.
dec666
A forward thinking midfielder to complement Smith is still vital.

HarryBosch
A bad move this in my eyes. They'll never learn if they're not able to go straight back out and cut the last games mistakes out.
dec666
We've got one, Dayton, he just hasn't wanted to play him there. I don't mean a Baxter type, I mean a Stephens/Wellens kind of midfielder. Somebody with an eye for a forward pass.

Midsblue
Will it be any position other than defence as that's the position LJ said were struggling on? Agree that a midfielder is needed. Approach Viera and ask for Lopes due to the other City lad spitting his dummy out.
dec666
So a Baxter type No, because Baxter played in the number 10 role. We tried him in midfield and it didn't work.
GravityGrave
I'd like to see some expierence come in but that will come at alot higher cost than untried youngsters. Without tarky last night there wasn't one leader in our defence including oxley . Oxleys reluctance to come for crosses is preventing us from relieving pressure and slowing the game down when we are under the cosh . Time for rachubka maybe ? By bringing in two kids on loan Lj is running the same risk as previous managers of hampering our own players' confidence/progress.
