24hoursfromtulsehill
The chippy near Gillingham's ground is cracking. AND they do gravy. It's horrible gravy, but they're among a tiny minority in the south prepared to give it a go. As for mid-match eats in general...eating is cheating. Frankly Mr Shankly
Gillingham? I bet the battered sausages are a sight to behold. The best pie I ever had at a match were at Gillingham one year. Think we won 1-0 with Moore as manager in a scrappy away win. It was a pie of kings, bit pricey at £3.00 a pop but it was like an oversized steak with rich ale gravy inside. :censored:ing awesome. Then I went the season after and had terrible one that looked like someone had swept up inside a pigeon loft, put it in a pastry case and served it barely warm. Worst pie experience was in 1990 at Wembley when I lifted it up greedily with both hands and the entire thermo-nuclear hot filling just flopped out all over my lap. leeslover
I saw a Wembley pie this year, but had the sense to buy a big fat pasty for myself on the way. It looked OK, too much gravy and pastry too weak, but it was the best part of a fiver...
mikejh45
Worst for me was Delia's Beef & Red Wine pie at Norwich........half an inch of some paste and an inch of fresh air surrounded by panzer strength crust.....bitch!!!

Tommy_Fent
what annoys me about the modern day half time pie is when the pies are served in that piping hot paper that burns your fingers best ever pie....? It's got to be Wigan I'm afraid

rosa
I've still got a soft spot for that chippy by Goodison. No idea what the food's like though.
Matt
The meat and potato pies at Rammy United are splendid - reasonably priced at £1.50. Try the chips at Horsfall, BPA too.
rudemedic
I've still got a soft spot for that chippy by Goodison. No idea what the food's like though. Meh. The chips were not all that good, and whilst I got a good portion they were quite expensive for a chippy, still cheaper than in the ground though. youngen
The chippy next to Gresty Rd is fantastic. I tried to go one day when I had to go to Crewe for work and was devastated to find it had shut five minutes before my arrival. My friday dinner every week. My favourite pies growing up were from a bakery in Waterhead at the bottom of the big hill up to Austerlands. They were mega.
