yarddog73
A lots being made of the effect Lockwoods having on our defence imagine the influence he could of had on tarky, he has played in seven games for brentford and they have yet to concede a goal with him on the pitch thats over 8 hours of football, reading the forums he is being touted as the best defender outside the PL the best they have seen at griffen park, pure class the comments go on, half of the clueless on here still reckon we are better off without him but to me it would appear that he wasnt the problem, glad he has gone somewhere that the fans are educated enough to appreciate his talent, 350k is quite frankly laughable I said so at the time and think it even more so now. ChaddySmoker
Seconded! Should have asked for double that-perhaps we get another £350K when they get promoted as the bonus!
Latics_Fanatic
Let's hope the promotion clause money goes straight into the stand. Too optimistic?

Not having a go but I think what people were saying is that once he had signed for Brentford that he should stay there and we should move on. I wasn't one at the time but looking back with our current center half pairing they may have been right. Would I have Tarky back full time, in a heart beat. If their was anyone who thought we we were better off without him they were clearly in the minority. From all the comments people put on here the majority of us were "educated enough to appreciate his talents"
opinions4u
Have we got a sell-on clause? It's a rip off however anyone puts it. I believe there are sell on, promotion and appearance clauses all of which are significant. But I've not seen the contract and I'm only going off what somebody reliable said. Yawn. He left, probably time to get over it. And how would Lockwood need to improve tarky if he has that record as his starting point? In recent weeks we've looked better defensively as a team than we have all season. Hes still prone to an almighty balls up, albeit he is a very good CB at this level when he concentrates. He hardly stood out against Latics in the recent fixture, as I thought their team as a whole were good and organised defensively. Its irrelevant whether he stayed or not, as his 'quality' ball playing counts for naff all if the players in front of him are yard dog, which they mostly have been all season. Hes gone, we got an amount of money which is completely irrelevant to me and you, and now we have new centre backs who are doing a decent enough job for what we need. Move on

Roger Ritchie
Gutted he has gone but it has been proven year on year that the player we let go even if it is peanuts for keeps our heads above water.
Witty
Have we got a sell-on clause? Well if City eventually sell Richards we'll have a "when Brentford sell Tarky" thread to replace the "City sell Micah" threads.

the_mighty_bosh
He was in the side that conceded against Notts County last week. He was subbed before they scored I think. Long term losing Tarky is a big blow if we really wanted to progress as a team. Tarky and Grounds as settled partnership would be a fantastic base to build from for next season if we had the resources to make it happen. In all honesty though I think LJ did a very good job replacing those 2 with Lockwood and Wilson, a polar opposite partnership in terms of styles but exactly what we've needed for a relegation scrap. As for the deal we've got for Tarky, call me naive but I'd imagine the future fees and clauses will be very beneficial to us and will likely add up to a fair deal, despite the reported initial fee being lower than I'd have hoped for.
