OAFC_Ryan
New about the deal a view years ago this will really benefit us And make us compete at this level I was told that they were taking over the club shop and would be manufacturing our kits. oldhamains
This is good news! I hope no one kicks up a fuss as we can all still call it Boundary Park.
oafc-latics
Not keen on the name, and a lot of fans will kick off if they get rid of the Boundary Park name, me included. But... Sports Direct will be just right for the new stand, and we could have a worse sponsor.

RoytonLatics
If they name it the sports direct stadium, then so be it. Sounds like a good deal financially for the club and it'll always be boundary park to the fans. Latics_Fanatic
No sums have been disclosed although the proposed deal is thought to be the biggest commercial agreement in Oldham’s history and may approach seven figures over the duration of the contract. Best news we've had in a long time, if it's true... Oh and to the people moaning (not specifically on here) - Bury renamed their stadium, The JD Sports Stadium - who calls it that? It will always be Gigg Lane, just like Latics will always play at Boundary Park. Edited April 24, 2014 by Latics_Fanatic
Tommy_Fent
I'd have only have had a problem if it was sponsored by some company that would make us look Tinpot like "The John's Dry Cleaning Stadium" or "The Tony's Carwash Arena"
Macca
The stadium was due to be renamed after potential sponsors Honda back when Sports Park 2000 was being talked about. It's just a sponsors name and it'll always be Boundary Park to the fans. Sounds like a decent deal going on what's been said in the article. Not keen on the idea of Sports Direct running the shop and taking a percentage of sales though. Yet another income stream the club wouldn't fully receive 100% of so not maximising potential revenue. And Sondico make goalkeepers gloves, not football shirts! Hope they do a good job on them. At least 2 new kits next season. Thought the JD deal lasted longer than this season. rudemedic
So this explains why Broady got a "promotion". Frankly naming rights for clubs' stands and stadiums always seem like a good move for the club, after all apart from the "Lookers", we call the Chaddy, the Chaddy or CRE and not the Zen Office stand, the same with the RRE. I think it is very rare for me to say Boundary Park, it's Oldham or BP, or home. The same will apply to the Sports Direct Stadium, although for some SDS is easier to type, despite it being a letter longer. A deal with what is essentially Newcastle may have to pass a few more tests, but I doubt there will be too much of an issue, although our "special relationship" with City might get affected. A regular game against the Barcodes could be a good money spinner, for all their faults, the Toon Army do travel well.

To be fair, I quite like some of their kits this season. Looks like they can actually be bothered making different designs for each club as well! Latics_Fanatic
Sondico make a few teams kits in the football league, all seem to have individual designs as Dec says... They also sell all the shirts on their website, so no more :censored: stock problems from the club shop? Also, if you want another massive positive, we can now get rid of them :censored:ing huge Fila badges on the arms of our kits!
4froale
It will always be boundary park to me but this is great news for the club, that bit of extra money could be the difference between a bad season and a good season, well done to all involved if we end up pulling this off, also hope it's true about the link between Newcastle as we could see some good young player coming our way

GlossopLatic
No doubt someone will kick off and this thread will reach 20 pages about the death of oafc But next season I will be buying a season ticket for the main stand and I will be going to boundary park where I will look across to the newly built broadway stand and watch us attack either the chaddy end or the rocky road end. They won't be called that by title but they will be in my eyes and that's all I care about. This means we are being far more commercially savy which will give us more long term security as a professional football club. Who knows we could even become fan owned and survive.
