BP1960
You might as well call it newcastle reserves Good, challenging, attractive fixture! Nice one, Latics! "United will kick-off pre-season at Oldham Athletic's Boundary Park on Tuesday, 15th July (7.30pm kick-off) before travelling to New Zealand for the Football United Tour 2014". Their first teamers won't want miss out on a trip to NZ, it will be like a training session. Edited May 10, 2014 by BP1960

In terms of a challenge, we'll probably get more out of it playing Newcastle in "training" mode, than say (with all due respect to them..) Macclesfield in "pre-season friendly" mode. Plus they'll be a bigger crowd. Really don't think there's much to complain about here.
keep_the_faith
Unless your BP1960. Who complains when theres nothing to complain about.
ShireBlue
It's always good to get a game vs a Premier League side, first XI or not. Should give our lads a decent challenge and bring a few in through the gates. Wish we could do it every week in the leag.. No, wait.
Gary67
Good news! Can't believe people are moaning about it , would they rather see us play a League 2 or Conferance side?
Twisbrogan
Their first teamers won't want miss out on a trip to NZ, it will be like a training session. By then, the players will have had about 2 weeks of mostly fitness training. Not sure anyone will be expecting it to be like a FA Cup 3rd round tie. slystallone
Might be a chance to run the rule over their 17 year old striker (he might be 18 by the time we play them) Adam Armstrong. Talked of highly up there (brother-in-law is a fan) but might not be quite ready for their 1st team in the Premier. Loan move to us in League One for him maybe? It being Newcastle, it might tempt a few floating fans to replace the moany ones that complain that we never get PRem opposition
