BP1960
This was really a case of men against boys as a revamped Droylsden packed with experienced players were physically too strong for a very young Latics team. It's hard to judge the kids from this match, but it shows with no reserve team league this season it's going to be very difficult for them to step up into the the first team squad. OAFC33
Tough run out for the young lads with only 3 2nd years in the starting 11. The ref didn't help matters reducing the youth team to 10 men and a couple of excellent finishes made it look much worse than i felt it was. Yes it was encouraging how they fought hard to compete in the second half after going a man down, even the sporting Droylsden players and management pleaded with the ref not to send the lad off. Maybe TP ought to look at arranging some occasional midweek evening away friendlies during the season against North West Counties league opposition to build up the kids confidence playing against older and more physical opponents. You really dont want to be mistaken for the "other 33" too much i'd say, based on recent posts...

I'd like to think I'm the more rational of the 33's. i had considered a name change after seeing some of the recent rants.

It's only there 4th friendly give them time sadly you go on about them not being in the reserves but most the reserve games last season where teams made up of kids and trialists. Sure the Senior cup games will provide extra info and the extra youth team games they will get better as the season goes on Edited July 23, 2014 by oafctom

The reserve league last season was a shambles and probably one of the reasons the club pulled out..whats needed is returnto the old central league format-including the major local clubs, where kids played alongside and against senior professionals. Dave_Og
Ref actually sent someone off in a friendly that is pathetic I'd say that probably depends on what he did - otherwise pre-season friendlies are a licence to break legs

The Manchester Senior Cup is a shambles and played on an ad hoc basis. I contacted the Manchester FA about this suggesting they merge the Junior (for non league teams only) and Senior cups into one competition on a group basis similar to the Champion League format, but they didn't bother to reply.
