oldhamoafc
Might turn out to be a good signing but do we need another CM? I know he's been here since start of pre season but that gives us dieng, Kelly, jones, Winchester, mellor, noble. He's even played philliskirk there! Latics_Fanatic
Highly-regarded in the lower leagues for his playing ability. However, his party lifestyle off the pitch held him back.
Keepingthe Faith
Could go spectacularly wrong or right this one, lets hope it's the latter..................could also have something to do with Mellors rabbit in headlamps performance

oafc1955
Non contract terms mean there's no risk......he could be the midfield playmaker we've been missing and the final piece in the jigsaw.

Chorlton_Latic
Can't remember seeing him play before, but in a recent interview, I remember Johnson referring to him as being similar in style to Harkins and Baxter. Not sure if he's trying to convince himself/us with that comment, but worth a gamble to prove fitness if so, seeing as we're not exactly abundant in flair. LOAFY
On Non contract terms it can't go wrong. Great signing. Strength and experience in the middle of the pitch goes a long way in this division. Hopefully jch can get back to pre season form and with forte and gros they can provide the goals. I might be proved wrong but I think Lee Johnson has put a very competitive squad together considering the budget he is probably working with. But not quick or particularly creative according to some fans, however, they say he can pass a ball. I suspect he will play as a holding midfielder. BP1960
An attacking midfielder at last - you must be happy? I think they meant his general control of the ball, he's not a creative player they say. 'Talented with the ball no doubt , but end product or a forward thinking pass , i didn't see one.' Zorrro
Best get cancelling that (non-)contract then.
BP1960
Best get cancelling that (non-)contract then. He might still be better than what we have got, however I struggle to think where he fits into the midfield, unless the Jones injury is more serious than thought. slystallone
So, now he's here fully, when will the club be annoucing the first David Noble Pub Crawl? Whenever it is, i'll free up my diary...
Keepingthe Faith
Can't see it going spectacularly wrong.. he's on a non contract basis. I was thinking more about his off field antics and leading some of our younger more impressionable players astray..........on the pitch could be a brilliant signing and in that respect indeed not much risk

I suspect he will play as a holding midfielder. You could well be right, but depends on roles he's been asked to fulfil in the past. Different managers see different qualities in players. I'd say from the snippets of what Johnson has said, he seems to see him as more of an attacking player. Time will tell of course.
slystallone
Dumb moment, but how does this non-contract thing work? Registered as a player for us with the FA, but he doesnt have a deal with us? And, will we be not actually paying him? Sorry, i'm confuddled...!
Blue_Guru
I imagine it is a registration to play for OAFC and a non contracted agreement of monies...basically a gentlemans agreement that we pay him £500 a week foir example Edited August 15, 2014 by Blue_Guru

robboman
Probably just means we pay him a wage although we can say he's surplus to requirements at any given point with no draw backs. Only downside is, if he does well... he can say the same (I think)
