LaticsChris
I think I went to a friendly or two beforehand, but my first proper first team game was the league cup 2nd round first leg game against Sheffield Wednesday. Team according to soccerbase.com was: G Kelly P Jones C Lightfoot S McNiven A Holt M Innes D Boshell L Duxbury C Corazzin M Tipton C Dudley I remember nothing about the game apart from a Wednesday player smashing into the gate at the bottom of the Chaddy. blueatheart
I don't think I was ever taken to a game when latics were in the premiership, I cannot remember it if I was, although I do have vague memories of watching a friendly in the lookers paddock around that time. I used to go to a soccer school that took us to the game afterwards and I did that for a few years, one of the first games I do remember was Oldham 3 - 2 Wolves in 1997. Kelly Serrant Fleming Hodgson Rickers Duxbury Richardson Beresford Snodin McCarthy Barlow Orlygsson Ritchie Ormondroyd Team of champions, well to me. Looking back, its no wonder we got relegated. Latics_Fanatic
My first game was Oldham 2-1 Blackpool in 2001. Gary Kelly Scott McNiven Barry Prenderville Paul Rickers Stuart Balmer Lee Duxbury John Sheridan Darren Sheridan Tony Carss Mark Allott John Eyre Subs... Sean Garnett, Matthew Tipton, David Eyres, David Miskelly, Carlo Corazzin. I wonder how many of these could get into our current team. LaticsChris
Who was C Lightfoot? The name Craig Lightfoot rings a bell... However Wikipedia tells me it was Chris Lightfoot, he made three appearances on loan from Crewe before dropping into non-league obscurity.
