Stevie_J
“Dare I go as far as to say that I’m ashamed to be British really, I cannot believe that people in senior positions were prepared to sit on the fence and say that anybody wanting to sign Ched Evans should think very carefully before doing so, and that’s exactly what we did. Of course we thought carefully, we had to think of our fans and the effects on people and why he could or he couldn’t show any sort of remorse towards his actions to this stage and we had to speak to his legal people and do a lot of other things that would satisfy us that we could employ him and then when you look at the abuse and vile content and reaction that helped to stop this going through, it’s quite deplorable. “ “I don’t pretend to excuse Ched Evans for his activities, I deplore what he allegedly (due to the appeal process at the moment) did”, said Owen. “We have to accept that he is a convicted man at this stage but the full weight of the law applied to him when he was convicted and the full weight of the law should apply now that he is out of prison and he should be allowed to return to work.” Most decent clubs would sack a director for coming out with something like this. He's clearly saying that he believes Evans is innocent.

Chaddy_Ender
Ashamed to be British ? It left some ashamed to be an Oldham fan but I suppose this isnt a concern of a club director, he should come with a mute button the fool.
opinions4u
Just when it had all gone away. Silence was the best approach. leeslover
The man is beneath contempt. Like many others I was in favour of him leaving the Trust and carrying on as a Club Director as a diplomatic way to end his catastrophic rule, but I was mistaken. He's a disgrace and he needs to go. oafc-latics
"I dont pretend to excuse Ched Evans for his activities, I deplore what he allegedly (due to the appeal process at the moment) did, said Owen." It's not alleged, Barry. He's been proven guilty. The appeal process just means it could be overturned, not that he's suddenly innocent again just because he's fighting it. That's from a former police officer too. What a moron.

ghostofcecere
I'm absolutely ashamed that this man is a director of the football club I love. It's getting beyond embarrasing now. It's also in my mind this has been done to tempt someone into saying something libellous or defamatory on OWTB after the revelations about him having his solicitor watchong posts on here. Be careful everyone.

3 Lions
It beggars belief, it really does. Let's not talk about the great chance we have to make the play offs, or the work that LJ is doing. No, lets bring up the Ched Evans crapstorm again. Moron.
Stevie_J
. He clearly isn't. Really? What he allegedly did or what he was found guilty of? That he's a convicted man at this stage?

PhilStarbucksSilkySkills
'I had lunch with Ched today on a friendship basis as I'm fully supportive of the legal process he's taking at the moment.' He can have lunch with whoever he wants. The use of the word ladies instead of women shows how out of touch he is. How could he??? Damn his insensitivity Is it possible to "deplore" something someone did if you only think he only "allegedley" did it? He is saying that he deplores the alleged crime. So yes. Say 10 fans did that (and I can't imagine it would have been that many) that would have meant 3000+ didn't...... There's a flaw in your logic if you are suggesting that the 3000+ people would not share similar sentiments to the 10. It's not alleged, Barry. He's been proven guilty. The appeal process just means it could be overturned, not that he's suddenly innocent again just because he's fighting it. That's from a former police officer too. What a moron. It is "alleged" because it has been alleged by people. "Alleged" doesn't mean "innocent". "Alleged" doesn't mean "not guilty" even. "Alleged" has no bearing on the outcome of a trail. It is simply what people will tend to say to cover there arses pre judicial verdict or if they don't accept the verdict. But every crime that anyone has ever been accused of can correctly be referred to as "alleged".
