In a sense, yes. I believe you've watched porn this morning, possibly while sitting at the back of your BTEC business class. Ackey
Pete - Report it, I don't see anything that would be considered too far (there's a lot of horse:censored:, but removing that would leave this place empty) Believable? IceStationLatic
But we still didn't offer him the deal. He owes us nothing. Um, the deal was offered, agreed and signed. Just like it was at Sheffield United. But in both cases a delay in announcing it, both clubs naively thinking the storm would blow over or could be tackled, proved its undoing. PlayItLivo
Um, the deal was offered, agreed and signed. What deal? He doesn't play for us. He doesn't owe us anything if we shat out of the deal. Is what I was saying. We're just like every other club who wouldn't touch him. We didn't back him when he wanted and needed it the most, so why would he swan back to us if his conviction is overturned? Especially if he has better offers. [i'm posting this from Evan's perspective, not my perspective on whether we should have signed him or not]
IceStationLatic
Aye true. But I got impression from the press that they (Camp Evans and his missus' dad) were more angry with Sheff U. The dad reportedly warned and pleaded that they just had go public with the deal as soon as he came out of prison - but the club delayed thinking criticism would wane... With us it was more of an expected deja view. You're right that he doesn't owe us anything, but he may well have admired the club's determination (more than Sheff U) to get the deal over the line. Not that that will necessarily lead to anything though...! Edited October 9, 2015 by IceStationLatic
Monty Burns
We didnt have any determination to get the deal done, or we would have got the deal done. Still believe he would be banging them in for us right now, in the championship, were it not for that PFA plonker.

opinions4u
As a guilty man, released from prison, he's entitled to seek employment. Employers have the right to employ him too. Equally, they have the choice to not employ him. Latics were stupid to try and employ him. They'd already seen the Sheffield Utd circus unfold. If the system eventually clears him then I would have no problem with Latics signing him. Although it's fairly obvious a better paying employer will be found. As an innocent man there would still be a number of moral question marks against his character. But I don't think they should make him any less employable. IceStationLatic
Spot on. And they shouldn't. But it was/is/will be a unique toxic association with Evans in the modern social media age, which their camp predicted and knew Sheff U acting quickly was the only chance of tackling. Even if he is cleared, he may struggle because of the history and 'circus' around him - unlike other footballers, guilty of crimes, who still play today. deyres42
If he's cleared he will be playing championship football within a month. Not sure about that, baggage and the circus will still be there. And it is far from a given that he just picks up where he left off.
