beag_teeets
On Friday I leave my current job to go to a new one, it leaves the team I am currently in a fair old pickle, does that make me a greedy bastard? Judas? I've been here 7 and a half years, put some good systems and processes in place but am ready for a new challenge. It happens. I got told yesterday that I had my sparkle back, now if you have met me in the flesh I don't think anyone would ever say I had a "sparkle" let alone lose one and get it back. It is just another job that I am going to, same as Johnson.
singe
I dont blame LJ in the slightest. Not his fault his boss doesnt want or appreciate him and :censored:ed him off for a pittance. Also had a little laugh at the suggestion of 'somebody more experienced' coming in. Unless you already know we have got Big Johnson lined up to work for free????? Don't buy that at all. Johnson just has to say no, I have a contract. As if SC does not appreciate him, that is laughable. He's managed his budget, and backed him int he transfer window nad help of offers for players. Monty Burns
I highly doubt it happened that way round. Barnsley are not going to approach our Board without some preliminaty indiction from our manager he is interested. Why would they expose themselves if Johnson was not interested, to any other manager being second choice. Apart from the fact we regularly sell our best players for undisclosed peanuts. You dont ask if a manager is available by posting on their twitter feed you know? If SC said no we would never even have known that they asked. losesome
Think Johnson senior would have probably told him , look what happened to me at Yeovil , absolutely no loyalty in football son so jump at every chance you get . Who can blame him !! Maybe this may be the chance we need to get somebody in to push us onto the next level. No doubt LJ has given us a decent platform to do that so lets take it ? Nice comparison but Id see it as you take a young apprentice on from school let him learn from his mistakes but continually support him and back him 100%, after two years when he is getting up to speed a rival company knocks on the door and he jumps camp at the first opportunity, not caring a :censored: for the chance he may never have got, its called being a :censored:house. singe
What proof do you have that LJ orchestrated his move away? I've been fortunate to meet LJ and every word he said underpinned his desire to get the club promoted. It was all about the club and not him and that he wanted to repay the faith the club but more so the fans placed in him. He's loaded so a few extra quid in his pocket probably hasn't swayed him. Unless the club state otherwise my gut feeling is that he's been influenced into moving. £200k towards the stand - similar emotional blackmail that was the background to why the club pulled out the Evans deal....a deal that they shouldn't have entered into anyway. And on that point, LJ was personally against the Evans deal I believe and Owen (according to local press) railroaded everyone into going ahead with the deal. Even this week Owen has slated the public for forcing the club into not signing Evans. I'll return it Mids. what proof do you have that SC has accepted £200k. What proof it is 200k? What prof SC wantes him to go? It is reported on Twitter (no concrete proof ) that Barnsley playing Budget is 5x ours at £5m. He just has to say not interested. Job to finish here. Why would he be encouraged to leave? He goes when he wants to a club he wants to go. The Evans deal re-started when LJ gave his approval, despite al his guff about Due Dilligence and not signing players that rock the boat. And LJ gets a cut of every transfer does he not? LJ was not against the Evans deal and he was not being forced to sign him against his wishes.

ShakerT
I said it at the time but Booing the team after the Colchester game bearing in mind where we were (are) was stupid, If the place was singing his name after that game (his last home game) not sure if it would have stopped him going but it didnt help. Shame we all couldnt get behind him. Gutted hes going. IMO best manager we have had since Stitch had us hovering around the playoffs (with a threadbare squad) before that C**t Moore took over. If anyone wants Dowie Back please cast your mind back to the position the club was in financially when he left, and his managerial record since. Midsblue
Fair retort Singe lol. I haven't any proof about the deal for LJ to Barnsley but only what I read plus my gut feel based on me meeting and talking in the past and over time with the stakeholders involved. LJ may be the master of spin but the club's mentality is everyone has their price and **** the ambition. We can all have our opinion but only LJ, SC etc know the facts behind this and will most probably spin it to their advantage to us fans. I guess I'm just frustrated that we've been up against it for so long and the first time there's a glimmer of hope, it's pulled from under us yet again. You dont ask if a manager is available by posting on their twitter feed you know? If SC said no we would never even have known that they asked. You're guessing. 90% of transfer are undisclosed these days. is undisclosed, how do you know its peanuts? We have always been a selling club. Surely SC is duty bound to tell LJ there has been an offer. And he would then quit. And we get nothing. There are many cases of that reported in the media. It was reported Barnsley were interested, it would be in their interest to leak it. Edited February 25, 2015 by singe

the_mighty_bosh
Well it seems to be happening doesn't it? Disappointed that this is the way LJ has decided to leave the club. It's a step up in a lot of ways but I still don't believe it's enough of a step up to leave the foundations that he had built here. This current squad is his and it has mostly been working well for him, it will take time for that to happen at another club imo. He wouldn't have lost much (if anything at all) by staying until the summer and he had the chance to achieve something special here. Now I think he will get a mixed reaction when he comes back here with Barnsley in a few weeks. He's managed to show himself to be a good manager (maybe even a great one in the future, which I believe he will be) but from our point of view, he hasn't really taken us anywhere. His spell has had moments of enjoyment and I thank him for his efforts in the last 2 years, but I find it hard to wish him luck in the future. doctor evil
Johnson is a decent league 1 manager, nothing more. We have a team capable of the play-offs, that's still the case, we just need somebody to come in and get them firing. Its not the end of the world. HarryBosch
Financial Fair Play means that over time your position in the Football League is closely correlated with your attendance at matches. On this basis lattices should flirt with relegation every season and will eventually go down. Gaining promotion from league 2 would not be easy as gate receipts would suffer and FFP bite us again. I immediately liked Lee Johnson and felt he was the answer. It is the manager and not the players that could get us promoted and Johnson has approached the job with clever signings and is building a squad that would have been even better next year if we can't make 6th this year. To progress we needed to sign and keep our manager. If Johnson goes we will have to wait for another manager of his abilities to turn up - 5, 10 or 20 years. If Johnson goes then even if we find another diamond will he just move on quickly? I'm totally gutted by the prospect of him going and the way this has played out. League 2 rather than the Championship beckons. So much for the vision of the new stand. Jesus Christ...
