GlossopLatic
Regarding the compensation for LJ, has anyone considered this? Is there the possibility that LJ had to have his contract paid up by Latics and the compo from Barnsley didn't cover much more than that, leaving us with less than expected? Just a thought with no substance whatsoever. No chance as it was Johnson who effectively ended the contract theirfore if we didn't offer compensation and he challenged in a court of law Johnson wouldn't have a leg to stand only way we would have to pay up compensation was if we sacked. Which would mean Barnsley wouldn't have to pay any compensation.
Blue_Guru
I can absolutely guarantee that Johnson was touting himself around.....he was interviewed for at least 3 other jobs and made the shortlist for Brighton If that really is true then I think it's a disgrace and shows his mind clearly wasn't on the job at hand...he knew we were punching above and with the fixtures coming up and injuries in hand he thought it was the best time to come out stinking of roses and claiming credit for making us top 6 club. Asking to have an interview with Barnsley is one thing and I could excuse him that... but 3 interviews?! His head clearly wasn't with OAFC. bozman
Holden being allowed to bring loan players in according to MEN. Sounds like he could be in charge until end of season.

Left back emergency cover rather than planning for rest of season by the looks of it.

dec666
Giving the job to Holden to the end of the season is a clear sign the board have given up on it. So why have they allowed him to bring a 30 year old from Rotherham in? If it's over get a youth player in or at least use one of our own players. Although I'm not convinced he will get to 10 games, it's a good value bet - we'll have done those 7 games in 25 days. Stuck a bit on. Stevie_J
Might as well get Scott Sellars's name on the office door now. He fits the bill perfectly: no management experience; cheap; short arse; not in the running in the fans' poll; City "connections" cheap; convicted criminal and for a meaty enough crime that Barry will hold the boy in the highest esteem. If he's a right gob:censored:e, like the two previous incumbents, the job's surely his.

BP1960
Does he kick the ball into the netty thing? Carrying on the LJ tradition with a holding midfielder more likely.
BP1960
Do you reckon that was LJs biggest failing lack of forward momentum? Dont mean long ball but too much tippy tappy out of position coaching manual stuff? IMO as shown in the 50 overs World Cup cricket all this coaching theory is getting old hat, players (except England) are being told just to get on with it without filling their heads with tactics and statistics, football will follow this trend, but which will be the first club to release the shackles and play a free flowing open attacking game? Once a precedent is set others will follow. Step forward Ricky Holden, your time is due again. Edited March 12, 2015 by BP1960
BP1960
Absolutely. Days of Fryatt and Shaw was we will score 4 if you get three so what and far more enjoyable, honest and good entertainment. True wingers who could cross a ball and no nonsense defenders who kicked everything. SC has probably never seen that style of football, although Bradford City are having a go at it. Trends come and go, LJ and his dossiers may well be out of fashion soon. Edited March 12, 2015 by BP1960
