Latics_Fanatic
The club is flatter than a witches left t*t at the minute. If you want to get a buzz about the place stop dickin about and get Guttuso in. No harm sticking him on a short contract till the end of the season with a view to a longer deal subject to finishing the season well. If he's crap we can look for someone else in the summer. if nowt else it will make the rest of the season entertaining, keep the fans happy (er) Giving it Holden/journey man manager would be in the short term (season ticket sales) financial suicide for the club. What if he took us down? Massive harm done then. Stick with Holden until "the right man" is found.

singe
Whilst I understand the nervousness as we edge closer to relegation, what I don't understand is why we have to appoint a name now because it will affect season ticket sales. If the name is big enough now, it will be big enough in June to boost ticket sales then, arguably have more impact, lifting everyone when ticket sales purchases are at their highest. And if the mooted £100 ticket goes through the impact will be even greater and would be a better time to do it. If the name falters, like Big Joe did to the end of the season, then ticket sales could be down despite a name.
BlueInAus
Time's not right for Scholes? Well he has missed his chance then cos next year we start our meteoric rise up the divisions culminating in 5 champions leagues in a row. Did you all miss the memo? Geordie Blue
Can't see what basis the club can offer it to Holden (apart from 1 that he's cheap) 3 out of 4 defeats isn't gonna attract any further fans in and with the team on a downward spiral and don't look like they can buy a win at the moment. SC reckons the best quality candidates he's ever had, so get one of them in then!!
Hands on
1. It seems obvious that applicants will withdraw as we continue to lose games. The loss to Barnsley took us out of the contest for 6th place. 2. Keeping Dean until end of season would have made sense when he took over if he had been allowed to bring in some temporary support. Having 'lost' the manager and assistant all the pressure is on an unprepared Dean who actually got in two good signings and a good performance from 10 of the 11 players against Barnsley. (A friend of mine suggested, after seeing the goals, that had that been a horse race there would have been a stewards enquiry!) Keeping Dean now would be stupid. 3. Clubs have been relegated with 52 points and given the way points are distributed this might be one of those years. 4. Season ticket sales will be adversely affected if a manager is not in place before the cut price sale ends. 5. Potential good appointments will be lost if we wait due to the post season churn of managers - Oldham was a good spot when LJ left but we compare less favourably as time goes on. 6. There must have been a good manager in the 75 applications we had and one of those should have been appointed last week. Taking time to get it right, and clearly with hindsight SC didn't get it right with LJ, is just making matters worse. deyres42
Good applicants is a nice soundbite, when they start asking for 5 grand a week and a top 6 budget, not so much.

Blue_Guru
Either that or they realise this is their one chance of maximising the impact of the new stand on increasing attendances and are getting cold feet. Getting the appointment really wrong would undo a lot the hard work the stand aimed to generate. Personally I don't blame them taking their time it's probably a more vital decision than in past years and given we 'should' be safe they are happy to gamble with dean for the rest of the season. Let's be honesrt with the number of injuries and probably a dependable in youth to get us over the line someone within the club is probably best placed to get the best out of them and know who can do the job. nzlatic
Dowie or Crouch it is in the summer...I'm lumping it on Dowie Anyone know how the betting market works here? 10 games and they pay out supposedly. But what happens with this where he's appointed past those 10 games but not officially permanent? The market is seemingly still open. Blue_Guru
Holden backers will be collecting their money shortly. Yep commitment by the club to over 10 games will mean pay outs paid on Holden. Market will then be re-open for OAFC's next manager
