HarryBosch
Some suggestion that they'll bypass midfield and hoof it to Hanson. Hopefully The Dazzler is aware of this and we go 4-3-3.....
dec666
Some suggestion that they'll bypass midfield and hoof it to Hanson. Hopefully The Dazzler is aware of this and we go 4-3-3..... Watching the way we ripped through them on the ground at home was probably the most satisfying performance last season. When we went to their place we really did just sink to their level. Important that Burn and Wilson play well.

oldhamoafc
I hate playing Bradford. I hate Phil Parkinson. It's predictable that they are just going to knock it long to Hanson. Horrible football and tactics.

NewBlue
When we went to their place we really did just sink to their level. We were below their level before that match. It was under Holden and we were truly woeful at the time. We made them look good, which takes some doing. Can't remember exactly how, but you're right in saying that first half at the home fixtures was great, a total reversal of the away fixture - one of the best I've seen from an Oldham team. I'd like to see some attacking football and a goal or two. Whatever Kelly thinks will bring this and a win, I don't mind. As long as it's not caution-first. IceStationLatic
I think Saturday could be the day that debate is quashed once and for all. With the point continued to be missed I expect. The last time the Chaddy was full of our mob singing, there wasn't a problem. The debate has never been that the Chaddy cannot be heard when ppl in it sing - and no-one else in the ground bothers except for 40 Athleticos. The issue was that our players said they heard the support more - a large away following aside - when our few folk that do sing were in the stand without the slanting roof blocking the noise. And our few fans that do sing at home were sick of coming across quieter than one man and his dog 'from Crawley' giving it some in the RRE. Incidentally, I suppose the last time the Chaddy was full of our fans (well...mostly) was Liverpool and Everton........... ....... And the small section of the RRE completely dominated the atmosphere.
rudemedic
Is there another club where the "main" stand has the smallest capacity? St. Andrews Spotland? Deepdale Oakwell? Old Trafford? Hawthorns Maybe more Anfield (guess)Gigg Lane (guess) Old Trafford is definitely right, though
NewBlue
To be honest it's all pretty irrelevant when there's only 20 fans singing for Oldham You could put them in the dugout or on a crane above the pitch and it just wouldn't matter

Is my site memory of away teams playing tricks or did they target a very inexperienced Timmy and got no change out of him?
Lee Sinnott
Am I right in thinking they haven't beaten us at BP since Warnock's first game in charge here...?
pukka
Am I right in thinking they haven't beaten us at BP since Warnock's first game in charge here...? Yes. They have only had 1 draw here too in that time.
aaronoafc
2-0 The blues tomorrow. Looking like no mills but I can't see him going 3 at the back. Think we'll see the new Celtic lad, Burn, Wilson Brown What's up with Truelove? Saw bits and bobs in pre season (looked okay at times but also shaky I thought) but isn't he supposed to be really good? Think it will be a pack the midfield job again, last season in the first 30 minutes or so against Bradford (H) was probably the best we played all season. The midfield Movement was crazy and everyone seemed to have a free role. Jones and Winny where popping up everywhere.
ddot_m
Would be interesting with 3 at the back, can't see it though.
oafc_lover
People calling for 3 at the back, do you not remember last season when we tried it under The Hobbit? We looked an absolute shambles.
ceskylatic
I can't see us playing three at the back against a long ball/direct team.
nesbitt1988
Its supposed to be Kelly specialist formation so why not try 3 at the back? aslong as 1 of the 3 isn't philliskirk!
doctor evil
There's no point playing 3 at the back so you have loads in midfield when the opposition are just going hoof it over their heads. I'd go 4-2-1-3. Coleman dieng, wilson, burn, brown philli, jones dunn croft, forte, yeates Edited September 4, 2015 by doctor evil
oafc_lover
I'm no football tactics specialist but if we had 3 at the back, when they have the ball the 2 outside CB's could spread out while a DM drops back to cover so effectively going back to 4. Then when we attack, the DM slots back in with the rest of the midfield? Obviously the DM needs to be as fit as a fiddle but I can see ways that it could work if done right. cornishblue
Bristol City didn't seem to have a problem with playing 3 at the back and wing backs last season. As long as they are coached right and the team's structure and tactics are correct against the opposition then it shouldn't be a problem. sjk2008
Bradford play with a 442 diamond, so 5 in the middle for us IMO. Coleman O' Connell Wilson Burn Brown Dieng - Jones Croft - Dunn - Yeates Forte
yarddog73
Has anyone else had enough of playing Forte as a lone striker? This time last year we had a player who was almost unplayable at times on the left wing, I will never get my head round asking your better players to play unfamiliar roles. Play to our strengths and give the opposition something to worry about or even let one or two of the plethora of strikers we have on our books play up front tomorrow .
