pinevillawill
This is the best piece of Oldham related news since that story about the broken bed from TJ Hughes on the front page of the Chron. BP1960
Oldham Athletic Roughyeds, I can see the merger now.
Stagger Lee
This is great news If the purpose of the new stand was to create income for the new financial rules under which Latics play then this is exactly the sort of regular income a commercial manager could only dream of. It is also a great boost to the beer / catering franchises and frankly a win-win situation for one and all. Assuming OAFC get the money owed and continue to get the money. Dave_Og
It seems so simple but somehow somewhere the board will cockup. Whose, ours or theirs?

ShireBlue
Why is everybody ignoring the point about summer time pitch renovation? Because the likes of Rochdale, Halifax, Huddersfield, Hull, Wigan etc. have proved its possible to accommodate both.

Rochdale, halifax pitches are :censored:e. Huddersflid and wigan have got lots more money than us. Hull is council funded.

OAFCM35
Surely a no brainer, given the facilities in the new stand, for us to take them and for them to pay up... This the clubs have to come together and work this out, surely there money to be made from having rugby & football at BP

OAFCM35
Will SC forgive and forget though? strikes me as not one to cross. Money talks, if he can get the opportunity to fill them suites on a week to week basis rather than fortnightly for the bluck of year he should do it. SavageTheBeast
Why is everybody ignoring the point about summer time pitch renovation? It's not rocket science when it comes to this issue. Wigan Warriors requested games to be played away from home when the pitch was been renovated. They had a cup tie against hull KR which, was played at Leigh Sports village I'm sure Oldham could use white bank for a few games against teams who don't travel well if need be. They would need a training pitch and there is also the reserves / junior rugby league teams to consider too. Little Wembley would not cope with all that so it would make sense to keep Whitebank. I doubt whether they could use a ground that has been deemed unsuitable for the league
Monty Burns
By April BP's pitch was cutting-up and as lumpy as a cow field. Whereas the snooker was moved to rochdale. Sorry, forgot about that.
pinevillawill
Isn't it funny how opinions change? Only a few years back, the rugby were criticised for being the main cause of our pitch problems. Every week in the Chaddy, you'd hear moans and groans about the Bears or the Roughyeds 'wreckin' the f'in pitch'. One promotion later, and there's a strong support for their return. Personal opinion? The football is bad enough on grass. It won't get any better on sand and mud. And if rent is still owed from years gone by, it's a no no. Congrats to the rugby, though. It's about time the town celebrated sporting success again. Edited September 21, 2015 by pinevillawill
Monty Burns
Dont think opinions have changed, get them out there wrecking it again and you will hear it again. Few on here like all male grappling, thats all.

I'd love to have Rochdale's home form, and watch their football over ours every week. Doesn't seem to have a negative effect on them... flytrap
They can get stuffed. They ruined our pitch last time and spoiled the football we could play in the latter half of each season.

The big difference being there's no football to spoil this time.

NewBlue
I'd just take better home form than Rochdale, pitch could be a swamp for all I care, but each to their own
