jmantonhoward
I am relaxed I just happen to rate Turner. Would of made sense to send Stan back instead. But we aren't paying Stan's wages, therefore it makes better business sense to send Turner out.

oafcmetty
But we aren't paying Stan's wages, therefore it makes better business sense to send Turner out. Or we could play our own player, helping him develop and (hopefully!) increasing his value

mickjagger
Or we could play our own player, helping him develop and (hopefully!) increasing his value We have not had a decent striker for what seems an eternity now, so what does that say for our current crop of strikers when none of the can make the position their own when we are so dire in that department, hence us having no alternative but to look elsewhere.. OAFCinWolves
Does that website get it right? Last few have never materialised
singe
Well we've managed to make numerous strikers, who've gone on to play at a higher level, look absolutely :censored:e over the years and under different managers. I know, whoever was the manager!
oafc1955
I'd rather us sign Lavery than Best provided it's for the whole season. Both would be great. I'd be happy with either of them but the earlier the better, coming in the day before a game is not ideal, 2 or 3 days training with the squad would help enormously. Handsy
We never sign players on a Monday or Tuesday normally a Thursday afternoon or Friday to give them plenty of time to gel with the rest of the squad
the_mighty_bosh
Signings are usually confirmed as late as possible so that the team can get the most amount of matches out of the player before the loan period ends.

Alternatively, if they don't come in until Thursday or Friday there's less time to drag them down to our level....
harry1203
Micheal Higdon, Brandy and Ricardo Fuller all on trial
Hands on
It is just typical of Latics to sign a replacement for Cassidy - the 3 months for Stan (who signed him?) - and then before giving him a chance talk about signing another striker. Then we/you expect him to be arsed about playing for us when we have said you're here but not good enough. Matt Smith was not given game time and when he was we didn't play to his strengths just as with O'Grady. Of course Murphy has now been ditched after scoring a cracker and what do you know he has scored for Crawley - are we surprised? I trust the idea of taking people on trial is to see if they are match fit.

HarryBosch
I never realised Higdon was 32 until now. Very, very experienced. Ricardo Fuller too would be great...
palmer1
Is Fuller without a club? If on trial then he could sign non contract. Not sure why Higdon would be on trial for a loan though...

NewBlue
Brandy - meh. Finds a club, scores a couple then leaves. Fuller. Getting on a bit. A couple of years ago I'd have snapped your hand off; now, not sure. Higdon. Wanted to see him in an Oldham shirt for a few years now. Good signing. steveoafc
I spotted someone in training kit yesterday, didn't recognise him but very much in the George Boyd mould, very long dark hair but obviously not him.
