chickenbaltipie
Not an anthem but a song which would sound great for our new leader, Stone Roses song, Sally Cinnamon. Just change the words to Johnny Sheridan Here are the Lyrics: Sure you can see the relevance: Until Sheza I was never happy I needed so much more Rain clouds oh they used to chase me Down they would poor Join my tears allay my fears Sent to me from heaven Johnny sheridan.... You are my world Edited January 16, 2016 by chickenbaltipie

L1onheartNew
Hmmm Anthems hey??? To this tune... Even if the Athleticos na na na'd the intro it would work. It would get the rest of the crowd going https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nncWCvrWRrc Lyrics: Same old boring Sunday Morning old man's out ...washing the car Waiting for the day we make our way to the sacred famous ...Boundary Park For when it's 3 o'clock, i know I cant go wrong When it's 3 o'clock we sing our famous song This is the song This is the sound of the Oldham This is the sound of the Oldham Grovesy, Ritchie, Shaw, Mcvitie Roger Palmer...bangin them in Goram, Besty, Hallworth, Kelly Harry Dowd...keeping them out For when it's 3 o'clock, i know I cant go wrong When it's 3 o'clock we sing our famous song This is the song This is the sound of the Oldham This is the sound of the Oldham I spend my pound at the Oldham I'm lost then found at the Oldham I am so Proud to be Oldham That is all Alternatively, where the "this is the song" bit is, they can always change direction completely and sing "you are my Oldham" and then go back into the second verse. nzlatic
Stone Roses football songs? Sounds familiar.Quite. As much as I love the Roses they're songs of fans of the man utd clubs. This is how it feels by the inspiral carpets? Least there's a connection to the club/town.

monkeykieran
Other Oldham/manc based acts with relevant songs to amend: M people - sIght for sore eyes or moving on up D:Ream (coxy) - things can only get better Lisa stansfield - change Simply Red - money's too tight to mention / fairground N trance - set you free Thin lizzy - the boys are back in town Take that - back for good, could it be magic, everything changes, patience, pray, rule the world Inspiration carpets - this is how it feels
monkeykieran
Not sure how you'd use one of his songs but I wad chatting to Carl Cox and his sister last year - who needs lyrics when you have techno
NewBlue
The club should ask for fans to send in songs and then do a vote. Nothing is ever going to get going on a messageboard, even the best song ideas. Otherwise, tell all of your mates the song and then blast it out a few times at an away game and hope it sticks. Even that's unlikely to work with a club anthem either. Edited January 16, 2016 by NewBlue
monkeykieran
I always think freed from desire by gala has an excellent basic footy chant quality about it "na na na na na na na na na na na"
ghostofcecere
Does anyone else use the tune for oh when the blues?? Surely that's our unique tune. I'll never forget the first time we sung it at Swindon in 2004. Fantastic atmosphere for a vital win. It's one we copied from Sheff Utd, they used to sing oh when the Blades. Latics and England
Oh When The Blues is our anthem. That is the song that we are recognised for. It is true that it was nicked from Sheff Utd but that's not particularly relevant as it has become ours. An anthem doesn't need to be a great tune or have great lyrics, it just needs to be something which a group of fans from other clubs hear and immediately associate with one club. I remember being abroad at an England game (can't remember where) with a mix of fans. Coming from another bar you could hear a group of lads singing OWTB although you couldn't make out the tune. Two of the guys in the bar I was in immediately said "f***ing Oldham". Made me proud ;-)
philliggi
This has been tried so many times before. Even on an official level with the club when we got andy Williams I love you baby. bluear
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Why can't we just belt this out? I don't sing at games but if this was going on I'd get involved
