yarddog73
The Frizzell bar in the Main Stand was shut before the game it didn't open at all until the game had kicked off the reason I was given was that they didn't have the staff to open it, basically you couldn't buy any sort of refreshments in the Main Stand prior to kick off which can't be helping the club's finances but probably more importantly it's not great when the odd lapsed fan may have paid us a visit today and gone away thinking what the he'll is going on. yarddog73
Found the away following on Walsall Police twitter as 427 so there were 3477 home fans today.
laticsmarra
I have to advise that from where I was sat in the North Stand it was a shambles and embarrasing .Simple basics: why were ex players unannounced and left to walk around the perimeter of the pitch during the first 10 minutes; Did nobody ever clock that Alan Young has difficulty walking? why is the PA system in the North Stand not working?have you ever heard of testing ?etc etc.... It is not the only time that the treatment of former players visiting the club has been less than professional. We know that the club can't run a .... .. brewery, but where do the Trust come in on these matters ? Also such things as bars being closed at 2:40. Sounds like lip service beiong paid to theTrust, we already know that is the case with us as supporters in general. We had a brand new team, new Manager none of whom were announced to the crowd, presumably this is an embarassment in itself. Get your act together Simon and see what is going on,or maybe you don't care anymore. Having said that, well done to Steve and team for putting together a credible performance in such a short space of time.
oafc1955
......why is the PA system in the North Stand not working?have you ever heard of testing ?etc etc.... Nothing wrong with the the bloody speakers, the music at half time was deafening!! The tribute today was an embarrassment... Was the minutes silence actually announced or heard in the other stands? As has been said there should have been a brief history of the man ie. When his association with the club started, where he came from, when he took on the managers role, and a chronicle of the fantastic achievements he made during during his time here. It's 34 years since he left the club and half of the fans there today weren't even born and a fair percentage probably didn't even know who he was until after he had passed away. For me it should also have been a minutes silence followed afterwards by a minutes applause. From start to finish the whole affair was a bloody shambles of a tribute to a true 'Latics Legend'!! GlossopLatic
The PA system in the north stand is a bit of an embarrassment and it's a health and safety risk I couldn't hear any announcement today I just saw some applause for what I assume was former players and Frizzell family members. It's been open a year and cost us a fortune getting such basic things wrong is really poor. It needs sorting and sorting now what if we had to evacuate the stand I can't hear anything so how will I know?

I had hot drink no prob and this was at 245.

underdog
Dear all This may come across really harsh now, and of course you can never judge a tone of an email now, so I will apologies in advance if I offend. Your match day experiences home and away, good or bad, firstly does not sit with the Trust.....yikes awaits total meltdown.... It sits with the supporters liaison officer first and should be reported to that person/team ( see link above). I believe the rationale may have come from the FA and put on clubs to arrange this. Previously for OAFC it's been a member of the clubs own staff, okay might be a conflict of interest and all but they did lay a decent foundation with regards to giving info out on away travel, process of what to do on match days, contact details too. Mark has now taken over this role as a fan on the terraces and as a volunteer. I am sure he will build on this role too. The bonus is, is that he is on the Trust board so we will be made aware now, not that we weren't aware before, of any problems/consistent problems that are effecting fans and then if need be the Trust will consider if we could help the club to resolve any issues. We have even been in communication with regards to yesterday concerns already, ques, turnstyle issues, offers not being fulfilled pie and programme, refreshments closing earlier, treatment of ex players too. Part of us volunteering sometimes means us contacting each other even late a night. Oh the joys of pestering your fellow volunteers at 11pm on a Saturday night. So chaps/chapesses, please let Mark know. Thanks

Having said that, well done to Steve and team for putting together a credible performance in such a short space of time. I have had feedback from two trust directors who confirmed that the club treated the ex-players and the Frizzell family with utmost respect and hospitality yesterday. Mr hardy also was on hand to be the players escort as was Simon Brooke too With regards to Mr Young's mobility, he was offered transportation from the main stand the North stand but he insisted that the wanted to walk around the pitch and absorb the atmosphere of BP once again. All ex players and the Frizzell family were given hospitality in the North stand and the ex players even mingled after the match to to chat to fans in the the North stand too. Yesterday was special circumstances, but it's the Trusts hope working with the club that we can do something more with ex players, to keep in touch with our heritage, to remember the past fondly for both old and young and open for all too. It's going to be a learning curve on getting it right, we hope it's something all fans can be part of or want to be a part of too. Diego_Sideburns
Is that spelt correctly!? Frizzell? I think it's correct - what I think is the second letter l is not as prominent in the picture and the picture does not do justice to the gold lettering. On the other hand it may not be a second letter l. I'll look closely tomorrow.. Edited August 15, 2016 by Diego_Sideburns

Would sum up some of what people saw on Saturday. Just so long as Blitz and Gazal have got golden bricks, rather than someone far less deserving, like, say, Ian Marshall. opinions4u
It was one L in April 2015 when the bricks went in. Somebody has subsequently scrawled a second L next to it. It's been pointed out. No action taken.

underdog
Better late than never. Excellent just wondering now how long the club are going to take on the renaming of the stand. Wonder if there is any costing involved in the club doing it too.

Dave_Og
Have they actually put a sign on the stand to indicate the revised nomenclature?
