SavageTheBeast
Best performance so far this pre season. We played some good passing football and defence looked strong.

mcfluff1985
In fairness, I'm only going off Latics Wall, so it may not have told the full story. But it did seem as though we played some decent stuff. Also, blindingly obvious we need goals. Latics wall was correct. McKay and Erwin will make a good partnership. Need a bit more time to learn each others game but I think we could have a goalscoring partnership on our hands.

While they are learning each other's game do you think they will learn 3 yards of pace too. Labourious is a good adjective to describe their movement. Bristolatic
For avoidance of doubt, this is Diagouraga. If he's seen in anywhere around BP or in a Latics shirt, someone must tell us. If he WAS the #4, Crackerjack!
NewBlue
I take it that if none of us know who #4 is that's a better sign than the whole world (and Premier League) knowing Martis... The next Pogba, imo

doctor evil
I think some of you may be over-egging the number 4, he looked like he had ability but was caught out too often for me. Also looked slightly off the pace. Mind you its very hard to make anything of anyone when the game breaks up like it did in the 2nd half. RobOAFC
If we put plenty of low crosses into the box then Mckay will bag a fair few, always seems to be on the shoulder of the defender for low crosses. Played alot better tonight than against Huddersfield and Preston, some decent football played at times down the wings. The back 5 that started today will be fine for now. Law has got turned once or twice, but he won't be up against many wingers in L1 with the quality of Wildschut. I'd sign Green and the trialist who wore number 4. Wasn't to sure about Green before the game, but his legs haven't gone and was calm on the ball. Number 4 looked like his legs were about to snap, but seemed quite strong and seemed to intercept everything. Few wobbles at times, but you'd expect that. Banks played better tonight, some decent set pieces from him. Think I'd rather Flynn be on corners with Banks in the middle due to his height though. Flynn looked better went he went right wing for a while, but Mantack was also decent RW. Once he adjusts to the quicker pace of first team football then he'll be useful. Erwin and Mckay looking better every game. Both good at pressing opposition, drop a deep at times though. Trialist wearing 23 - tried to put himself about a bit, ref gave him nothing though. Looked to be alot older than 21? Worth another look against Grimsby. Cassidy put himself a bit about at last, rushed his shot that he sent wide. One misplaced pass and quite a few in main stand was on his back. Looks to have improved at bit since back of last season (not hard granted). Woodland is fine as CM backup, potential to push for starting spot. Is Winchester one to go? Only given a few minutes with Brown at the end. Robinson said in programme he wants another 4 or 5 in - not sure whether that was including any outgoings. I'd sign Green and the midfield trialist and look for pacey winger and striker and then someone to cover LB. Then replace whoever he wants to get rid off. ShireBlue
Like Clarke. Looks rock-like at the back and is constantly talking and organising the team, especially with Law who he warned was drifting out of position at times. Not bad overall tonight. BP1960
If we sign Green and the other trialist that's 2 more defensive midfieders in addition to Klok, I would have thought the priorities were a winger and a striker.

Law shouldn't need telling his position he's played there long enough. It woudn't surprise me to see Woodlands given a run out at right back. adamoafc
I feel he needs do much better, his free kicks are good I'll give him that. Have to disagree BP mantack didn't know how to play RM and didn't track back meaning law was left 2v1 every time against their left side. Think if mantack could learn the position that partnership of them two could be a good one. Caused Wigan a fair few problems first half. youngen
Mantack if shown correctly could be very useful for us. All the right attributes to make a cracking player at this level. Think Laws is definitely a weak link of that back 4/5 if there is one. Where was my new hero Mark Klok?

Green offers us some experience and composure in midfield. I wouldn't say he is a specialist DM. Klok seems to have a tendency to drift foward quite a bit rather than stick to DM. All 3 offer us something different, add them them to Banks and Woodland and we will have good competition for place in CM and each player offers something different. I feel he needs do much better, his free kicks are good I'll give him that. He's been up against some good wingers, better than many he'll face in L1. Plus for two of the games he has played he has been played as a wing-back which he clearly isn't. An upgrade on Brown and Wilson at RB. jorvik_latic
So who was the number 4? I take it it wasn't Diagouraga? Are you still going on about Diagouraga? I made that up from the David Gloster Tweets yesterday.... Number 4 was Abdul Osman I believe.
