Guest nonaenever
Shut the RRE (except the family section) for the rest of the season. Let the Athleticos sit in the section nearest the Chaddy - create a better atmosphere. Will save financially re. the running costs of the stand and maybe an improved atmosphere with 2 "fuller" sides. The RRE could be opened as/when we start to attract more home support and for big cup games etc. Let's face it, the place is bloody empty. Thoughts on the back of a fag packet please. It might come to the Chaddy End closing, must cost a lot to maintain and eventually may have to be replaced. The Main Stand may have to go soon too. GlossopLatic
Bad idea. People have chose to sit in that part of the ground without the threat of moving they wont appreciate being moved. The money we save which wouldnt be much and certainly won't see an improved squad will only result in more fans being pissed. We are bound to do that enough times this season anyway please don't give the club ideas. Edited September 15, 2016 by GlossopLatic
NewBlue
It would undoubtedly improve the atmosphere by a lot, but the club don't like the idea of home fans being near to away fans, not to mention people have bought RRE STs for a reason. Also the idea of having a totally empty end doesn't sound good to me

deyres42
Running costs aren't our problem, people should stop worrying about stuff we have no control over. Plus I like the RRE.

opinions4u
Shutting stands, knocking them down etc.tends to lead to lower crowds and fans getting naffed off and never returning. Bad idea.
Guest nonaenever
I take on board what has been said. Just trying to think of an "easy win" to improve the match-day atmosphere/experience. Quite a few people have expressed to me how dire and depressing it was just being at the Chesterfield game. I think the letter in the Oldham Chron tonight probably sums up how quite a % of supporters (even diehards) are feeling.

The best place to start to improve atmosphere is to give a bit of impetus to the current singing section - i.e. a rallying call from the manager pushing for involvement, bit of a fuss on the official for a week before a home fixture, allow fans with STs to transfer to the RRE without hassle. Swindon at home is winnable - they've got 2 points from 4 away games (yes, not much worse than our home record) so we can hope we do okay, have a decent atmosphere and then see if fans want to come back for the next fixture. As already said, it's gone a bit stale, so a bit of life needed from the club I reckon...
oafc1955
FFS start to win a few football matches....that's all it will take. If we can't manage that then we won't have a future anyway!!

If we can't manage that then we won't have a future anyway!!Exactly. There's no magic bullet. It's better when we win games and score goals. No doubt the Athleticos would love to be beside the away fans, but then they shouldn't entertain smoke bombs and the like. If we can't manage that then we won't have a future anyway!! Yeah, but we haven't done that on a consistent basis at home for a good 7 odd years. Should fans just not bother until that miraculously happens? There's nothing worse than attending a football match with no atmosphere, and the future's bleak if you can't attract young fans. There's nothing wrong with trying to add to the efforts that the Athletico lads are making... Edited September 15, 2016 by NewBlue
another fan
Although I applaud your thinking we have spent years complaining that we have had only three stands. To close one now should not happen.. The task now is to carry on and try to continue improving the product on the pitch and filling three home fan stands Leave the Chaddy End to what ir has now become
yarddog73
Why don't they just open 2 blocks behind the goal instead of 4 in the RRE, 800 fans spread over 1600 seats looks better and would help with the atmosphere as everyone would be condensed into a couple of blocks. yarddog73
I'd also suggest the Main Stand paddock RRE side as the singing standing section, it is away from the visitors end but central enough to make the kids in the family stand involved, it's not going to happen I know but that's my suggestion. Exactly doing things like this pisses people off doesn't it. We want to improve the atmosphere and attendances it's going to require winning games their is no easy fix for this. Suggest the club give 1000 tickets to local schools for midweek and "less attractive" home games and fill the family enclosures. If some buy a pie and a programme the club still gains financially. The club has to do something to get new young fans in the ground. Also let ST holders bring a friend to midweek games when crowds are lower. The support is dwindling and the club need to offer incentives to get new (And old) fans in the ground.

yarddog73
Huddersfield are pushing to sell out every home game by selling off remaining seats at £5 each for every home game, when I looked earlier in the week they had sold 18000 plus, any kind of offer like this at BP would be met with all our many bastard fans complaining about how they are missing out.
