rudemedic
Head injury, we kick the ball out, they give us the ball back, but our defensive corner. Throw-in and then what sounds like a bad foul

They have passed well and and kept the ball and then made their chances count. The Davies sitter in the first half was a big miss and changed the game with them scoring shortly after! Oh Heck C-Beck
Thought we were stupid to keep knocking it long in the second half the Oxford center backs were dominating. They also defended very well in the box whenever we whipped in a cross. Would have liked us to have changed tactics and try to be a bit more patient. Their number 10 looked very good and helped set up both goals. Was a pretty dull game from both teams in all honesty though.

robboman
Diamond formation, if that's what the hell it was, didn't work. Badly need at least one midfielder who can create and at least one winger
deckyd
Thought keeper did well, one rash moment but apart from that made some good saves.

NewBlue
Wil struggle to score goals with that midfield. And Shez knows it. Our game plan was hoofball to bypass it. For his good work off the ball, Fane is not a left-side of the diamond player - every pass is backwards. Strikers feeding on scraps, and even when Holloway and Davies flicked some decent long balls on there was nothing. Behind the strikers isn't McLaughlin's natural position so I expect he'll be back on the wing pretty soon. Could do with a passer to play behind the striker - that 10 for them, Payne, was excellent. In fact, they're a decent side who will do well so maybe it's not the best opposition to judge against.

BP1960
Same old..no midfield, no goalpoacher, no movement. For all the lauded fitness regime we looked sluggish and 2nd to the ball. Number 10 Payne ran the show for them.

Flemboy
Oxford wont have an easier away win all season.Awful performances pretty well all round apart from Fane who at least got stuck in which was more than Green and Banks did.Thought Clarke was partly to blame for their first. Too many long high hopeless balls which their defence thought it was Xmas.Woefull crosses to their keeper who had nothing to do. Cant think of any positives. Tope should have done better with a good chance of levelling but wasted it.Their number 2 handled the ball on the line which was on the blind side of the ref. Our keeper did a good save but overall a sad do by our lot and we defo need a decent midfield player and decent crossers of tge ball otherwise we aint going to score many .Lots for Shez to umull over.Oxford were no world beaters buthad a decent midfielder think he was called Payne who caused us pain. Can only improve on today albeit some improvement before their second afterwhich it was all over.
BP1960
Can a player who's on loan with another team be signed permanently by another ? If so lets all club together for their number 10 Payne.
Stagger Lee
For the first 75 mins that i saw Fane was MOM for us, new goalkeeper looked ok, McLaughlin and Hunt looked competent but the central midfield never took control at any stage Early days yet
Oafc1895
McLaughlin was the only one looking to go forward, but couldn't deliver an end product with the likes of a decent cross and was probably very lucky to stay on the park Davies quick and put himself about but had no first touch, Holloway ineffective, Typical Fane performance, runs about puts good challenges in but can't do anything with the ball, Banks goes without saying. How he is still a professional footballer I do not know. He is slow, cannot tackle and if half a yard behind the pace of the game. He panics when he has the ball and if he's put under pressure he cannot find a blue shirt, and his dead balls have got worse. Green ineffective as a winger so why play him there when we have tope, dummigan and flynn on the bench. Personally, id much rather have Green in CM and Banks loaned out to the Dog and Duck Defence looked solid enough but didn't really have much cover from infront so it's hard work to play without any cover. Lots for Shez to work on and I'd go back to the 352 that served us so well at the end of last year. McLaughlin and Hunt as WB's would be frightening. Macca the only one looking to go forward, Davies quick and put himself about but had no touch, aah ineffective, typical fanny performance, wanks goes without saying and green ineffective as a winger. daniel
Well that was a very poor start to the season, first half was mildly OK, 2nd half shocking. Our Midfield is still a major issue, Green had a poor game, Banks is just terrible, he doesn't do anything well, and his set pieces really piss me off, in fact our set pieces today from everyone were abysmal, not one quality delivery was put in their box. Fane had a good game but needs someone with him who will create chances. Thought Davies looked lively 1st half and was poor in the 2nd, Holloway was the opposite and had a better 2nd half, I just hope the tactic is not to hoof it from defence to attack all season, we did it all game, and it was awful to watch and just didn't work. Think Shez will sign a midfielder soon which will hopefully improve us, and hopefully Gardner will improve us after his ban. Thought the keeper was fine, could easily have been 3 or 4 if it weren't for some good saves, and his distribution was good. I fancy Oxford to be right up there this season, they didn't need to get out of 2nd gear, and with players like payne (who is absolutely quality at this level) and henry in Midfield they should be at the top end of the league. Finally, slightly disappointed with the crowd, 4800 with over 1000 from them, 3800 home fans opening day is poor in my eyes.
