Dave_Og
Struggling to believe what I've just heard during the commentary on the Sheff Wed v Sunderland game. Said Sunderland fought off Liverpool and Man United when they signed Winchester. They both wanted him to play as a senior player in their U23 teams. Say what?? Bobledgersheart
Would seem the ideal midfielder young players could model themselves on. To my mind he's never deserved the stick he's got on here and would be the ideal type for our midfield this season. Just goes to show we don't know everything about the game * however hard some of us try to convince our peers. * I would not exclude myself from this category. Roger Ritchie
I always rated Winchester. Never saw the problem with him. One of the better midfielders we have had over recent years. I went to a Cliftonville game a few years ago and Winchester's twin brother was playing. He looked decent but the opposition weren't up to much. It's a fairly recent development.......didn't Bournemouth or Brighton do something similar a couple of seasons ago ? The end of career move might not be so bad if you're considering coaching. Yes remember hattrick vleicester in FA cup , I was stood in the main stand paddock and the away fans decided to do some landscape gardening of the RRE, and lumps of the old concrete teracing were dispatched towards the home supporters. Loved Youngie though, and on his day (sadly not every match) he looked a class forward.

Penney sorted out our defensive issues, but we didn't score enough under him. We do seem to struggle under "established" managers, the current incumbent and his original predecessor aside. Dew Dilly Dance
To be fair, Penney had done an excellent job at Doncaster and Darlington. There is no way you can guarantee success whoever is appointed. Sometimes things just don't work out. I don't remember anyone criticising the appointment at the time. I thought he would do well, so obviously that makes me a poor judge. It's so easy to be wise after the event!
