Now I'm not for bringing people back for nostalgia sake but I will throw this out there I wonder if we fancied bringing Willie in on a temporary basis to help Unsworth in an advisory capacity is that an option here? Im kind of thinking outload here abit More a case of someone with good experience in coaching who might be able to spot something that we can improve. 8 hours ago, oafc1955 said: What does Willie Donachie know about the National League? Do we over sell this knowing the national league theory how much do we think it is worth. I don't think this hits the nail on the head of where we are going wrong here. From my own observation their doesn't seem to be much difference in the way teams play to the football league and the national league. Some will be physical and some will be more purely football. I don't think their is some specialist knowledge of the league itself that we are lacking and that we need to tap into. What we need to do is find a way to build a team and win football matches it would be the same problem if we were still in league 2 or league 1 for that matter. I think its important from a recruitment and scouting opposition stand point as we can find players but from a purely coaching point of view less so. He must have something about him to get being jobs. Let's face it we know nothing about what he does on the training ground but the people who employ him who work with him in football on a day to day basis, clearly do. Remember when he came in for us the last season I held even an iota of hope for us finishing top half, rolling nicely then as soon as he came in we were getting dicked off everyone, conceded four at home to Yeovil and seven away to MK Dons, LJ plots his escape and Holden just about keeps us up despite taking over when we were pushing play offs, know people close to him and he is well respected and a nice guy but he's done very well for me on what I witnessed in his spell here although to be fair he wouldn't be the first manager to go on to better things away from shitstorm BP. Longlostfan
I think 39% win record would put him in the top ten of the god knows how many since Big Joe. Add a few draws from the remaining 60% and it would look like a good season. Not saying I'd want him here, and 39% is nearly twice what he did here but how many 65 point seasons have we had this century?
