Pleased for the lad it looks like he has been performing consistently for a longer period of time than when he turned out for us, like him or not I always enjoyed watching him play, appreciate he has his faults but still shows a reasonable amount of flair on his day. Bobledgersheart
Always quite liked Winchester as a player. But thought he spent too much time running across the park instead of committing the opposition by straightening his runs. Also thought him a bit lightweight and definitely not captain material. Obviously the move has galvanized him .....well done Carl !

He had about a 4 month spell where he looked to be finally kicking on (goals at Fleetwood and Scunny in there), but he never really did. He wouldn’t get much of a go in our midfield at the moment but always nice to see an ex-Tic, especially one who made his debut for us at a young age, do well after leaving. Did he ever score a crap goal?

mikeroyboy
Dale Stevens of Brighton, second only to Jack Cork of Burnley for ground covered in the top flight this season. 189 miles to Cork's 198. Don't remember him as that type of player when playing here.

That’s like saying you don’t remember chris porter as a lanky, injury prone goalscorer.

perfectOzblue
Former Latics loanee Fabio Ferreira has joined Sydney FC (the current dominant A-League team here in Oz). He's done the rounds with a few Australian teams. Dean Bouzanis has clumsily given away a pen for his Melbourne City side v Sydney FC in tonight's match. That’s like saying you don’t remember chris porter as a lanky, injury prone goalscorer. Well I don't. Memory is selective in us all. I do remember Billy Dearden, 2goals in 35 for us. Eventually ending up at Sheffield United and scoring 61 goals in 175, many in the first division. And centre half Ian Marshall arriving from Everton 1 in 15 and becoming one of the finest strikers of the ball we have seen here, not to mention his goals. Going on to further goal scoring success in the Premier League with other clubs. If you remember Stevens as a box to box runner and energetic midfield dynamo why don't you just say so? I remember a talented young player with a turn of speed and developing eye for accurate passing. To be the second highest runner in the Premiership takes some doing and I don't remember him doing it here.

That's because he wasn't, Stephens was more of a playmaker for us and he certainly wasn't a box to box work horse like his current stats suggest However if you don't have the ball for 70% of the game you will do more running and as bad as we've been a times over the years we've always seen plenty of the football.
