Should Roughyeds be welcomed back to BP?

Not if oafc is a tenant with BB being a landlord. That's very different to being a long term leaseholder.

But we are a long term leaseholder it was renewed in 2011, expires in 2031 and will probably be renewed. Even if you take my analogy and substitute for a tenancy - you wouldn’t give profits for a private enterprise to your landlord.

Im pretty sure there's a lease.

Question mark over that new stand which is the subject of unsubstantiated rumour.

Would like nothing more than a connection between us and Roughyeds if it helped galvanise the town in the way it has Huddersfield.

BUT serious money would need investing in the playing surface. Potential if we can start using the synthetic surfaces but until then it’s just not worth it for us.

Didn’t want to create a new topic, but Rugby have announced a new 10 year partnership with Latics and will be playing at BP for the next decade.

Fine with me aslong as the pitch is maintained to a good standard then it should be no issue. Good for the rugby club as they have had a couple of decades of being messed about with a permanent home, things are looking up for them.

Pretty sure the deal on the pitch with the council will have stipulated the rugby playing at Boundary Park.

Just hope they ( and us ) don't train on it to maintain the pitch's condition.

The Little Wembley developments and Chapel Road should deal with those problems.

The rugby are also developing a site in Chadderton at Melrose Fields which was previously home to Hollinwood RLFC for their academy and training purposes.

They'll be in Super League in five years, the Roughyeds...

Personally think they'll struggle if they go up, they will also be disappointed with the interest from the Oldham public as they aren't really buying in to it, crowds are poor for what's being pumped in.

A few seasons in the Championship will do them good, with a competitive team and some bigger away followings. Ford and Quinn have a long term plan in place and seem to be going about it right.

Latics/Yeds/BP’s resurgence is great for the town.

What's the average crowd now compared to when they were playing on a park?

A few hundred more, big game Sunday should see a decent turnout but they are still managing to fit everyone in the Joe Royle quite comfortably despite topping the League. Plenty who I know who watch Latics and rugby follow Super League teams which I've always found a bit weird.

Couldn't agree more, not knocking what they are trying to do and I'd love nothing more than both the football and rugby to get back where they belong.

Compared to the last couple of seasons under the old ownership at Bower Fold/Whitebank the attendances have almost doubled. Being in the third tier hasn’t helped due to the small away followings and being expected to win every game bar maybe one.
