Should Roughyeds be welcomed back to BP?

Yes and you get a really sense of them Building something. Long may the growth continue as think there are still loads of dormant fans about as well as new ones. They also seem to be making a real effort of getting into the school to which is great. Needs more oldham lads playing rugby and not dicking about on the streets getting up to mischief. Plus we do have a history of churning out some real talent over the years :)

Yes I was talking to a coach at one of the Oldham Academies  who says 5 of their players are being taken on by ORLFC.

Previously they'd have gone to Super League clubs

One thing that I've noticed this season is that there is very little toxicity towards the team at the moment - the fans are being extraordinarily patient imho...

But for how long if results continue? To the lads on the pitch - when you cross the white line...

One thing I noticed in the rugby team is absolutely full commitment from every player, I can't say that about Latics players.

Don't know why that is?

The way some on here are wanking themselves silly over all things rugby, I bet they can't wait for a bit of red to show around BP...

Plus it'll give them something else to beat the club up about... Double win.

yeah l got a bit carried away.

its wank, they hate us and it ruins the pitch. they need fuckin off ASAP!!

Many support both and the pitch hasn't a mark on it.

There's very little atmosphere and a growing amount of apathy, you get the feeling the crowd are just resigning themselves to another season of mediocrity, ultimately they need something to believe in and it's going to take a player or two to step up to change that, Fondop for all his faults gives the fans a lift but I think that's about it really, maybe Monthe when he goes on one of his marauding runs, I can't think of much or anyone else that excites, we are always going to come across as workmanlike the way we set up and play, it's all a bit meh.

We need wins it really is as simple as that.

I'd add Ogle to the few who look interested.

Whilst I'm not sure about most of this I'm yet to understand why so many games of Rugby are being played on the pitch, last season without the Rugby the pitch just about held up at the back end of the season and was looking a little worn, what's the actual arrangement with the Rugby then because to me the relationship seems to be a bit one way at the moment.

I think the hybrid pitch is the nearest to an artifical surface you can get.

The rugby season doesn't start again while late winter, but you are right to be wary of bad weather during some months.

I can't see an Halifax situation, incidentally their rugby club could be going bust.

Indeed. I don't think lack of commitment is one of our issues at all.

Better goalkeeping and taking a few more chances gets us right up there.

Whilst I applaud the rugby club's achievement and recognise the benefit of this to the town, just a note of caution.

A friend of mine is a big ORLFC supporter and reckons that the club has sights on making Boundary Park their own one day, making Latics their tenants - as happened at Stockport. It obviously won't happen while Frank and his family are running things, but who knows what lies in the future, especially if ORLFC continue to grow and Latics stay stuck in our current position.

This could of course be nonsense, although my friend has already told me to expect to see a lot more ORLFC stuff around Boundary Park in the near future as they start to 'decorate' their new home. But it's something to keep an eye on 🤔

Think your mate is getting a tad carried away with himself. Not a chance would the club sell their home of 128 years to the rugby 😂

Ignore him one bad season and Bill Quinn will throw his toys out of the pram and pull out again.

A good listen  5 Live Rugby League - Crossing the Codes - BBC Sounds  Some of the IMG stuff re getting into super league is absolutely bonkers

It's not all rosy in the SL, I understand Wigan and St Helens posted big losses last year and London Broncos are struggling.

Rugby League was, is and always will be a minority sport.

The millions that have been wasted trying to spread the game from it's traditional "M62 base" is scandalous when long established clubs, including Oldham, were struggling. Bending the rules to try to nurture the game in London, Wales, France and even Canada was a disgrace.

Mike Ford's view that all parties should get round a table to discuss how RU & RL could merge into a single game was quite startling. Can't see how it could ever happen and anything remotely like RL could be seen. Which is kind of counter-intuitive given so many recent rule changes in RU stem from RL.

For many rugby league people, myself included, rugby union is the historical enemy. The England RU team specifically. Many rugby league supporters actively want England to lose.

The French RU actively collaborated with the Nazis in WW2, the Petain government closed down rugby league, sequestered its assets and strew broken glass over its fields.

I have no interest whatsoever in a reunited game. I would rather support Bolton Wanderers!

I didn't know about the French thing but I feel much the same re RU.  I can see why RL had socialist links so can see why that came about

The Forbidden Game by Mike Rylance covers the French stuff.

RL people in France heavily involved in the Resistance in the south. RU not so much!
