I think that's partially correct but would change it to as below:- The act of bringing to public attention those who do not display a sufficient level of expected support to something that you think is the right moral viewpoint and that by publicly displaying this it shows to the public what a good, righteous person you think you are. The above describes what Mullin was doing by putting the slogan on his boots. I've used the word 'you' above to make a point but of course it doesn't actually mean you Matt. Ian MM PS just my opinion. Edited November 5, 2022 by IanMarshall's Mullet

I already said that though, I did say 'subjective'... Anyway, Mullins has achieved what he wanted to say - he's shown the boots to the world, he doesn't need to wear them - when he scores all he has to do is point at the messageless boots - everyone who knows, will know what he means. His job is done, I guess, and the mental gymnastics the free speech crowd are making will continue.

He isn't going to change anyone's mind about anything in politics by his antics but he thinks in his head he's shown what a good, righteous, morally correct person he is. No doubt he will get a nice warm glow from that - that's what virtue signallers thrive on. Anyway I'm bored with this now - how do you think we'll get on tomorrow Matt? FFS Mikey it's got absolutely fuck all to do with what I think or believe!! It's to do with what Mullin thinks. He thinks he's virtuous by doing what he did and by doing what he did he wants other people to think that as well ie signalling it. Just read what I said in my previous posts explaining what the act of virtue signalling is defined as. Try Google, I didn't make the meaning up..... That's me finished on this subject. I didn't say he was virtue signalling, which is a phrase that's wracked with problem in itself - it's a lazy put-down. I think Mullin expressed a geniune conviction in response to the Tories fucking us, over and over. I also think that the boot was not to change anyones mind, but it's was to show solidarity in a way that many of us cannot. Support the Miners/Dockers/Strikes etc would have been similar a tone back in the 80's, albeit with less swears - but I get his idea, and I support it. History repeats itself. I said earlier that the poppy was a similar thing to your understanding of Virtue Signalling, or Only Saying That To Make Yourself Look Good. I said the poppy, not wearing of the poppy. The T-shirts, van stickers, caravan decals, painting of walls, decorations etc are almost certainly used To Make Yourself Look Good. Wearing a poppy should be a symbol of remembrance - should be and indeed was, but in recent decades has been politicised and commercialised and hijacked to become somthing to Make Yourself Look Good.

BP1960
Another match postponed as Dagenham are playing in the FA Cup 2nd round on November 26th. So if no other match is arranged we have no home game after Saturday until a month later on December 11th. With our away form it looks ominous. Wrong. At no point did I say I agreed or disagreed with what Matt said in his post 11/6/2022 at 8.01AM. I felt Matt's clearly well written and thought out views didn't warrant a response from me in a thread about the FA Cup draw. Matt's clearly an intelligent person but I just thought it was time to lighten up a bit and get back to thread subject. It obviously rattled your cage which I regret simply because I'm here again replying to you. JoeP
I assume the draw for the start of our Road To Wembley is on Monday? Hopefully the last time we'll come in at this round!
