latics22
I was thinking this, this morning. Maybe cover at left back. Squad is big enough to accommodate injuries people like ward, Gardner, fondop Sutton can cover injuries.

No disrespect but if we have any chance to sign Kanu we should be snapping their hand off, Kitching can revert back to left back - where he's just as effective and Kanu can play wide left, that partnership would be formidable, Walker still has much to prove and I see him as no more than a squad player. Kanu is probably as good as you're going to get in his position at our level and he wouldn't struggle or look out of place in a league or two above.

He was subdued last night, as if he wants a move, but anyone who has watched him a few times knows he is quality. Would love to sign him. Look at it this way. Kanu or Green - no brainer. Shelton to Halifax making room for Kanu - no brainer. Understand we may now have to be patient to move players out first, but we will hopefully target quality incoming. Quality over quantity moving forward.
Guy Branston Pickle
We should never be turning down bringing in extra quality, could make all the difference this season and sets us up for next season (whichever division we're in) too. I'd be delighted with Kanu

I'd be delighted with Kanu I agree but I think its only fair to ask what's gone wrong for him at Barnet to be in and out of the side and last night for him to be going through the motions when he should be one of their shining lights. He's obviously going through the motions so somethings gone on and we are unlikely to find out the back story. He is a terrific player though and will no doubt be moving on in the near future
nzlatic
Given the article about moving players out, who do you think that refers to? I'll take Nuttall and Shelton as givens, but who else do you reckon Mellon will be looking to get out the door?

It could well be a solvable issue but either way I'd like to think we do our research on players characters aswell as their ability.

Out of the above, Nuttall and Shelton, I can only really see anyone being interested in taking a punt on Kurt on loan. Won't be easy to shift the rest given they're probably on decent wages for this division and their only real route out is probably bottom end who are skint or the division below who are even skinter (& also a massive ego hit to drop into the NLN/NLS)

aaronoafc
Surely someone will take a punt on Kurt in the next week or so. He scored a shit load last season, granted a division lower. He’d be a decent signing for a bottom end NL side/NLN team. It’s just whether he would be willing to take a paycut to play regularly again as he’ll be on decent money here. As mad as it sounds I think Shelton may get a move soon too. Again he’ll be on decent money so its whether he’ll take a bit less, but could see another NL side taking a chance on him. He had decent pedigree elsewhere. The rest of the shite 2025 players I think we’re stuck with, at least until summer where we may be able to make something happen. yarddog73
There were some rumours that Dale were looking at Nuttall, not sure if there was anything in that. Norman, Sutton, McGahey, Nuttall, Ward, Green, Tollitt, Gardner, Shelton, Willoughby, Hope, Dickinson, Reid and Couto could all struggle to make matchday squads and find themselves surplus, only stumbling block for some would be the wages, I imagine at least half of those are being well overpaid based on what they offer but are bound to have admirers. I still expect a couple to go whether that's permanent or on loan. 14 players on that list who've probably been made available. meat pie sausage roll
Of all the players mentioned, I would like to retain Ward,, Dickinson, Gardner, Hope, Sutton Reid and Green who are very good squad players at this level and give us that strength in depth. Dale can’t afford anyone, they are unfortunately struggling to pay the players on a monthly basis. They are the that desperate that they their manager JIm McNulty had to register as a player. Most of them will be gone apart from Sutton. The only way Id keep Gardener is on a pay as you play basis.
