DAZN NL coverage

I love test cricket and prefer it to the 20/50 over version, but it's increasingly difficult to look outside us, Australia, India and SA for competitive series. NZ and Pakistan have their moments and WI did win a test in Australia recently, but sadly the money (and the popularity) of test cricket is becoming increasingly concentrated. The decline of WI is particularly sad given their conveyor belt of great sides right up until the 90s.

You're stretching it to include SA, who sent what was effectively their 3rtd team to the last series in NZ

Yes, although I liked Geoff Boycott he made sure test matches lasted 5 days.

Last time I met him Roger de Courcy was taking the mick out of him at a charity auction in Jersey.   Let's just say he lived down to his reputation

Anything to do with nookie?

de Courcey is a Crystal Palace fan and my age now.

He's not any more - died years ago

Edit - apparently still with us - sure I'd read his obituary.  He was very funny at that charity auction.  Way different to his usual act which was incredibly blue; more appropriate for a golf club's lady captain's event at lunchtime!  Didn't have the bear with him though.  Boycott was just a miserable sod, as per.

Compared to NFL, a typical Latics performance under Unsworth was like watching Real Madrid at their peak.

It's ok to say you've never watched it/don't understand it. :chubb:

People like different things...  I've tried it as many times as I'm going to!

Although I don't watch it regularly I've never heard an NFL team that bad they've been booed off the pitch.

I'm a Philadelphia Eagles fan and they are renowned for it! Won ten on the bounce, but are losing at half time in the next game? BOOOOOOOOOO!!

I read Dazn block any VPNs they can.

Every channel tries. The VPN providers update their software to stay ahead. A huge game of Cat and Mouse.  DAZN Canada had all the premiership games so I used to use a VPN to watch them which would work most of the time then sometimes it would be blocked for a couple of days. Then the pattern would repeat.

So inconclusion I'd have to pay another £14.99 a month to get DAZN onto of a a full sky and BT sport package.

Not bad if it's a monthly subscription as TNT was £28 month on Sky Q.

Just checked and that's 12 months - monthly sub is £24.99. Think I'll give it a miss.

DAZN is £24.99? For the occasional Latics match plus boxing and NFL? That won't be a tough decision!

Seems so for a monthly sub - commit to 12 months and it's £14.99 a month or £120 up front.

Au contraire, Rodney. I got invited to Wembley a few years ago to watch Baltimore Ravens v Jacksonville Jaguars. Not even the outstanding hospitality of my US hosts, a private equity firm in Baltimore, could make up for 3-4 hours of mind numbing tedium that was the actual match. The endless free food and beer helped a bit, though.

120 upfront isn’t too bad just for Latics games

Not sure what the blackout rules are going to look like for Saturday fixtures as I have heard they’re looking and changing some laws with the new PL TV deal.

Currently our non Saturday fixtures are:

Tuesdays - 8 (4 home 4 away)

Bank Holidays - 7 - 4 home 3 away

+ two Rochdale games moved to midday kick off

So 17 games not including any games that get picked for the real footage.

Which works out around £7 per game.

think it was £9.50 a game for national league TV for the day pass, be interested to see how much the day passes they have talked about will be.

I would imagine if we get off to a good start we would get a few games as the main match.

But is that replacing NLTV?

If it's a monthly subscription just on the off chance that some Latics games are on plus some sports I have no interest in...

The article someone posted on here at the start of this thread suggested that they would show a game with the full on 5 camera professional set up but also all the other games from the clubs feed (1 camera job like NLTV).

They have women’s football and snooker too haha.

The channels long term goal was to become the Netflix of sports so I wouldn’t be surprised if they bought up every niche/lower level sport they can before moving onto trying to pick up some of the bigger hitters.

so you’ll get kabbaddi and cheese rolling soon too

So, looking at this announcement all games available including highlights and replays.

Looks like they are taking over NLTV and will be hosting it as a stand alone channel within their platform which you can buy on its own (no mention of price) so you wouldn’t need to get the rest of the channel and can just buy the NLTV bit.

Sounds great to me. The NL did say it was a ground breaking deal. Obviously they specialise in streaming, and so it should be a million times better than NLTV and even Ifollow from the FL.
