MATCH: Ebbsfleet (A) 28/09/24

Recommended Posts

A different test to that of Forrest Green who were open and played football.  Haven't seen anything of Ebbsfleet but taking a look at the stats up top, can see them sitting in and trying to make it a war of attrition.  We have been defensively solid and do not expect this to change, I think it will be more of whether or not we can break them down- to which the answer is yes.

I know Garner will likely not start but I fancy him to come on later in second half and find the net.  0-2 Latics, Norwood from pen spot and Garner!

The attention this guy gets amongst Latics fans is just weird

I love him.

I admire what he’s achieved from a conversation in a pub, to what they’re now. I think he a really a good example of what can be achieved when you put your mind to it.

I still want to hammer Dorking if we play them.

Be a strong squad to take down there ii there are no new injuries particularly if Stretton and Charsley are added to the 18 from Tuesday night, it would be hard to call an eleven from that. I'll have a guess at;

Hudson

Ogle

Raglan

Monthe

Kitching

Conlon

Lundstrum

Charsley

Dolan

Norwood

Fondop

Maloney

Hobson

Caprice

Hammond

Khan

Stretton

Garner

Gardner and Uchegbulam to be travelling reserves.

It's certainly as strong as any squad in this division with Kay to come back in as well, I really hope we start tomorows game as we have the previous couple, Ebbsfleet have probably been a touch unlucky in the points picked up but surely we will have enough to put up a bold show tomorrow.

It’s never stunk of a 1-0 loss more

Well, if that is the case, you can look back on this and say "I told you so."
I think Latics will be too strong for them and I will look back and say "I told you so." :D

I’m with Wardie but I don’t think, I hope.

I'm tempted to say "Keep the Faith" but I fucking hate that motto.
We have to start having the "Billy Big Balls" mentality. :D

Went to this fixture last year, they were 21st and we were 5th so pretty similar to this season.  Despite being a dour 0-0 they looked like a better team than we did, with only the defence and Hudson coming out with any real credit.

With hindsight it was a performance (and not the only one sadly) that indicated that the foundations weren't in place for a promotion push.  This will be a good test to see if we can comfortably control the game and show that we're ready to consistently perform and challenge up the top for the whole season.

Going to be a long day for me.

Grand Final at MCG in the afternoon (fly at 6:30), and as this is a 5:30 kick off, 2:30am Here.

If it's as good  GF as last year, then happy days. Just need us to win this time!

Something feels different about Latics this season.

I haven't got or had that usual feeling of doom...

One down, one to go.

Brisbane Lions. AFL premiers 2024!

I have a really good feeling about this season now.

This is unusual Mark, it looks like the site is letting me buy a match pass - usually get a knock back for Saturday matches.  Maybe because of the kick off time?

Looked again, yes says the match is available - good news.
